With the release of V4 today, I will no longer be really working on this project, I will be notifying the new people that might keep the project up and running.

This also means this will be the last blog post written by me! So let's talk a bit!

Since then the Bot has come a really long way and I am happy that I was able to learn a lot on the way! I never knew how much ORM can make SQL easier but coding a lot more demanding.

We have reached the point where Ree6 has all the features implemented that Mee6 has, except for custom commands and events being implemented on the Frontend everything works quite decently. A big issue I had when making V4 was the stupid solutions and the repetitive coding I did. There were too many duplicated code snippets that required to be updated one by one instead of a single method being updated.

This causes me a lot of frustration since most of the Notifications for example are almost 100% the same. The only difference is the classes. The methods are the exact same.

You might ask yourself thou, what's even new in V4?

For that I can tell you improved SQL performance, using Reactor to make most of the code Async, a new Plugin System, User App support and a few fixes there and here to make it work again.

I worked on Ree6 for almost 5 years. And it has been an on-and-off relationship with this project. So it hasn't received any care for a long time, the last v3 release was in May.

But I want to at least try making a new release with a few more features and improvements. That's why v4 will be the last version that I(Presti) will work on.

Well, that's a bit tricky. Since I will no longer be working on Ree6 at that point, I will mainly oversee everything for the time being and let a few new people work on the project.

So you will not see me work on Ree6 or any service related to Ree6 but rather just direct the new devs for the beginning. Once I feel like they got the hang of it I will leave it fully and only keep the ownership of the domain since it is connected to other stuff as well.

I know my own inconsistency in saying "It will be released on xx.xx.2024" or "It will be released end of x month" and weeks or even a month after that stating that it will be released another time, but I am confident in saying that it will be released on the 01.11.2024.

That's because it's basically done. All the mentioned changes are implemented except for the unified look and feel. Once those changes are in and a little bit of testing everything should be ready to release.

Hey there!
I am Presti, the one and only dev behind Ree6!

In the past month, I made the decision to move from Tube-hosting to a new hoster and recently I decided to downgrade the new VPS since I do not use more than 20% to 30% of the resources.

Unfortunately, I have not fully backed up everything, so I am running some stuff on outdated data. Mainly the Blog and our Mail System. Every core infrastructure should still work and be operational as it was before the downgrade.

Now everything should be up and running. I hope to finish the upcoming "final" update of Ree6. I have been very lackluster about working on any project and I hope to find enough motivation to finish this update.

I hope you all are doing great and have fun!

I'm here to inform you that Ree6 will be going offline between 30.12.2023 and 02.01.2024. The reason for this is that Ree6 will have another database "rework" to improve performance and make it easier to work with in the future.

You might ask yourself why it would take 4 days for those changes?
And my honest answer is, it wouldn't. But I want to go easy on and take my time and also celebrate the new year!

The Database changes will utilize more functionality of databases to allow quicker SQL queries and shrink database size.

I hope you all had a wonderful first of the month and stumble through life healthy and happy!

Today I will share with you what happened in the releases 3.0.16 and 3.0.17 and some news regarding the future of Ree6! How about we start with 3.0.16?

In 3.0.16 I fixed up some nasty bugs that I have not noticed since those 2 specific features have been added. It sounds weird given that the bugs regarding these features are very obvious and just a byproduct of me not checking if everything works the way intended.

The first bug is related to the Voice Levels and the second one relates to the Statistics channels. For the first one, I simply forgot to reset the current progress and keep the progress Server specific! You might ask yourself, how did you not notice this for almost 2 years? My answer to that question is, I don't really know.

Anyways! Let's continue with the Statisticschannels, this also sounds simple and silly, but I forgot to set the connect permissions on the channels, which means anyone was able to join those channels! Again very silly.

Now that we have talked about the bugs, let's talk about the new feature that has been added with 3.0.16!

With 3.0.16 Ree6 officially supports LavaLink!
What does that mean? Well for our users nothing really.
But for people who want to self-host Ree6, this is great news since they can now connect Ree6 to a bigger Network of LavaLink which allows them to give their users a better Music experience!

We reached the end of 3.0.16 now comes 3.0.17!

The release of 3.0.17 was more of a bug fix release since we only added a single feature but fixed a few bugs.

Firstly in this version, we updated the Installer to use the newer config values to make it easier for Ree6 to load them. And we fixed a simple bug in our Giveaway System which allowed bots to join it as well. That's a no-go!

And at last, we have a new contributor! Thanks to Louan Fontenele we now support Portugues (BR)!

Sadly this was it for 3.0.17, there weren't any funny bug fixes :c

On the release of 1.6.0 I stated that Ree6 will be supported for at least the next 2-3 years, this message was from the 5th February of 2022. Until now it was a great way, I met a lot of new people, I improved a lot in programming, and I learned a lot about stuff that I thought I would never need but ended up needing. So let me first say thank you, for supporting my work and being interested in it! But as everything has to come to an end, I will stop working on Ree6 in late 2024 or somewhere in 2025.

For the time being though, Ree6 will receive an update near Christmas Eve, I don't celebrate Christmas but still want to spend time with my family and friends, so there will be no other updates coming 2 weeks before the new year.

Lets get started with the next changelog!
As you already most likely know, the last changelog contained all the information util version 3.0.12. Thats why we are going to talk about the changelogs between 3.0.13 and 3.0.15!

With these versions we added a lot more options for selfhosters to configurate Ree6 to their liking, while also improving stuff such as temporal voicechannels!

These updates also fixed bugs that caused crashes for example when trying to get the current artwork of a playing song!

With this version we added a new feature that is already pretty known.

Its called Giveaway!
Crazy right? No?

Well Ree6 now has support for Giveaways and as of testing its works decently with not alot of overhead!

And that is not all! This version also introduced the usage of Flyway as our Database Migrator, to prevent future custom sql stuff that has to be run to make everything work!

And next to it every person that supports via kofi or patreon receives a little goose next to their name on the User and Server info! Here are some pictures!

Since the post-relase update Ree6 has received a few bug fixes and a new content update. It took a long time for these, but at the end they released. It looks like Ree6 has almost reached its final state of features and will either received a complete overhaul again or go into LTS for bug fixes! But util then you will received alot more rather boring changelogs!

Since the release of Ree6 v3, I have not talked about anything on this Blog page.
Which means about 2 months of radio silence around here.

One of the reasons is that I was on vacation not too long ago and that there wasn't anything to discuss or inform about. So I decided to give out a postrelease update, which contains information about how the release itself went and what has been worked on till the release 3.0.12.

When releasing, the first thing that broke was the SQL System, I didn't not account some specific cases and that broke everything, I needed to change up some fields in the Database Entity classes to make them work partly and had to fix the rest with self wrote SQL Scripts.

After that it took me two more updates (3.0.1 and 3.0.2) to fix more SQL Statements in the SQL Module.

Version 3.0.2 was the last update between my Birthday and the Ree6 release.
The day after my Birthday, the 27th of June, I released 3 more updates (3.0.3, 3.0.4, 3.0.5) which contained the new "Autopublish" Feature and alot more SQL Fixes.

With 3.0.6 I released the new RSS and TikTok Notifier + Russian and Turkish translations! While also fixing up some stuff related to YT Notifications, which to this day somehow still doesnt work 100% and I dont know why.

Version 3.0.7 is a follow up version that just fixes a bug in our Spotify Wrapper to allow Spotify Music again.

The next release (3.0.8) was a bit more feature rich, for people that selfhost Ree6.
It added the configuration to hide the "AI Module is disabled" Message and to enabled or disabled debug information. While also fixing some SQL bugs, the random meme command and improving support for other SQL Servers and the VC-Join Stream Action.

Versions between 3.0.9 and 3.0.12, including both of them, just contain fixes.
For example 3.0.9 and 3.0.10 are only SQL fixes. Im not joking. Both got released the same day and just fix some SQL related stuff.

3.0.11 and 3.0.12 fix the Slashcommand support for the Blacklist command and a random and awful YT Player bug. Most likely caused by Google trying to keep bots from playing music.

I didn't post anything because there was nothing to talk about, release of 3.0.0 went mostly smooth and version 3.0.0 to 3.0.12 contain small features and stability/bug fixes.

A major part of Ree6s creation and humble beginnings was the creation of a simple moderation/fun bot that would allow me to improve my skills and allow my friends to use feature that are usually paid or limited.

It started with me slowly loosing interest in Mee6 and its buisniss model it felt like their vision is focused on earning money instead of giving users to ability to have more fun.

With this TheReeBot started 2018-2019 as a small bot that I worked on privatly.
Shortly after, around May 2020, TheReeBot released as a public Bot.

Not long after the public release of TheReeBot I terminated the bot and closed the windows, because it did not seem logical to work on a small bot while there are alot bigger bots that do alot better.

Some months later at Jan 31, 2021 we release Ree6 and notified every user of TheReeBot about the name change and started to make the code opensource!

This was the beginning of this long journey!
I started to work more on the Bot and hoped to someday reach my goals of having every common or wanted feature in one bot, for free, open source and simple.

And to this day I stand by my philosophy.
Everything is open source, free and "simple".

Our kitchen almost burnt down from what we cooked for this release.
For the current Roadmap in Ree6 V3 we have a fully revamped and ground up new and improved webinterface with alot more capabilities!

We are in the works to implement GPT4All into Ree6 to allow users to use it as a Assisstant to help them setup systems like for example our stream-tools.

V3 might also bring a "reward" system which will allow users to add themselfs into somesorts of special support credits when they recommend or get users to use Ree6 via their invite code. This is yet to be fully developed and thought about.

In our long way of V3 we will be reworking several parts of Ree6 to make it more modular and allow users to use Ree6 more the way they want to. This will also allow other developers to create their own Ree6 version without having to remove everything they dont want to have. And rather use everything the want from the start!

Finally with V3 we will be adding the most interesting and asked for features!
Custom commands and event responders, or how Mee6 would call it "automatization".

While these feature might not be released on the V3 release date, we will be putting them onto our top priority.

Our hopes for this major update is to finally reach the point of releasing most of what Mee6 has for free and open source for everyone to use. There are some exception such as the monetization programm since I, Presti the owner of Ree6, am underaged and do not want to open a company for all this.

We still hope that all these feature are enough for our users and help them have more fun easier and quicker!

The upcomming major update Ree6 V3 will contain feature highly asked for like:
- Custom commands.
- Custom Event response (Mee6 calls it "automatization").
- Might have a rewards system that rewards you for inviting other to use Ree6.
- Modularization of the Ree6 source code.
- Fully new and rebuilt from the ground Webinterface.
- AI assistant.
- Feature like monitization are not being added out of legal reasons.

We had alot of Issues using Bloggers for example but not limited to not being able to use a custom domain or the difficult handling of the post editor.

We have decided to switch to a self hosted platform called Ghost!
Nothing really changes, everything will be ported over and be released here!
